NOFO @ The Pig Cafe: Reviews & Ratings
We had the best dinner at Nofo!!! Delicious salmon and prime rib, super reasonable prices. It was really fun to shop in the gift shop beforehand. There is tons of easy parking as well. But what really made our dinner stand out was getting to chat with our waitress Laura!!! She had tons of suggestions of things to do nearby, which was much appreciated by us. We love the Raleigh area because of people like Laura. Thank you Nofo and Laura!
We had a wonderful first time experience here! The hostess was welcoming and friendly, excitedly seating us outdoors. Our waitress, Vianne, was happy, outgoing, and it was clear she wanted to be there. We felt like she genuinely had our best interest in mind when we asked for recommendations. The food was delicious, fresh, and reasonable portion size. We appreciated the attentive service and the timing of the food as we were attending an event down the road. We really appreciated the waitress being attentive enough to allow us to have two rounds of beverages in our limited time. I wish I had been here sooner. If Vianne could work at every restaurant, the world would be a much better place.
I recently had the pleasure of enjoying brunch at NOFO @ the Pig, and I can’t say enough good things about the experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and seated right away. The service was impressively quick, and our waitress was an absolute gem—friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. I went with the French toast, and wow—what a treat. It was perfectly fluffy, with just the right balance of crisp edges and soft center. My friend ordered the fried chicken, and I have to say, it was some of the best I’ve tried. Lightly breaded with a satisfying crunch and packed with flavor, it hit every mark for excellent fried chicken. Between the cozy atmosphere, the fantastic food, and the top-notch service, NOFO @ the Pig has definitely earned a spot on my go-to brunch list. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is absolutely worth a visit!
Very friendly staff and fun ambiance. The fried fish and salmon were excellent! The grit had a little too much cream. Keep it more like authentic grit :-)
Delicious menu items, with a wide variety of Southern-based dishes. Shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, pork chop, fried chicken salad, and the fried oysters were perfect. Chef Dan is amazing. There's also a gift shop upstairs with lots of fun and interesting gifts, including jams and jellys, T-shirts, candies of all types, accessories, books, music, jewelry, and lots more. Featured items are all from local North Carolina companies, craftsfolk, and artisans.
UPDATE: Another FIVE-STAR meal and shopping experience at The Pig Cafe and NOFO shop/gift shop. NOFO is located in the Five Points area of Raleigh’s beautiful and historic Hayes Barton district. The food was great on each of our dining dates, consisting of: Buttermilk Fried Chicken Salad, with smoked bacon, red onion, bell pepper, cucumber, tomato, egg, Ashe County cheddar and herbed buttermilk dressing; chicken salad sandwich with fruit bowl; and, a shrimp cake sandwich with fried okra (yum)! Many food options are available, including food to go from the NOFO coolers. Shopping at NOFO is a real retail treat with something for everyone, including the kiddos (see photos).
Great little gem on Raleigh. NOFO is short for North and Fourth. The restaurant and gift shop is housed in a former Piggly Wiggly grocery store. I did not visit the gift shop, opting to go straight to lunch! Menu is eclectic with some standard items mixed in. I have the grilled chicken sandwich on toasted wheat berry bread. It was very good and the side of sweet potato fries was perfect. The beef burger was great but the big surprise was the spinach burger. Unbelievable! For drinks there are teas, canned sodas and alcoholic beverages. Wines by the glass looked ok. We will be back again.
Loved this place! It has a southern, quirky feel. We parked in the back and entered through a downstairs exit and were seated quickly. If you go on a rainy day, they seat people upstairs in the shop area which feels super special. That area can also be rented out for baby showers, and other events. The upstairs is a shop that has extremely cute and fun products of every kind. They have fridges throughout with cakes, and jams. They have a kitchen section, stationary section, board game section, toy section, jewelry section and so much more! Each product feels hand-picked and thought-out and will make you fall in love or chuckle! The staff is very very conversational and friendly. The food was really good. Not a lot to choose from because each dish is thoughtfully chosen for the menu and amazing. I'd recommend the breakfast burrito, pork hash, or fried green tomatoes. Their lattes are super yummy too! Update: Still love this place and come here frequently. It's become our go-to must visit place that we take visiting friends to! They have about it! P.s. you won't regret trying the sweet potato fries. They're the best I've ever had. If you don't see it on the menu, just ask!
